One of the problems with using ordinary cloth to cover books is that the adhesive can come through the cloth. Some cloth is also thin and stretchy making it difficult to us.
One method to overcome these problems is to line the cloth with Filmoplast R (heat activated). You lay the Filmoplast R, adhesive side down, on the fabric and iron it on a medium setting. You can then use a thin coat of PVA to attach it to the boards. Always test on a spare piece of fabric.
