To tear strips of the paper simply score lightly using ruler and bone folder. Using a water pen or a paint brush paint a line of water along the score. Pull apart along the damp line - fibres will tease apart easily. You can trim off any overly long fibres.
Kozo Shi is thin and strong making it an excellent for paper repairs, including repairing the folds of the signatures, also for reattaching boards on leather bindings using the Etherington method, etc.
Many adhesives can be used with the paper but our favourite for paper repairs is Prepared Starch Paste
